This Coming Sunday, May 31
A number of weeks ago, when the Stay Home order was issued, I mentioned that we were living in a time similar to the early church. The disciples were isolating from others and waiting in anticipation for what God would do next. On the day of Pentecost the Holy Spirit came down, the gospel was preached, and many were added to the church. I remarked that it might be about that time that we would be allowed to begin returning to meeting together.
This Sunday, May 31, 2020, is the day we celebrate Pentecost. It is also the day we can openly gather (outside) as a church body. I am truly anticipating what God will do going forward. As we meet together and seek God’s face and His blessing, may lives be changed. May we have complete unity in the diversity of our thoughts and political positions. Love covers over a multitude of sins. Perfect love casts out fear.
The plan is to meet outside near the church building at 10:00 AM on Sunday, May 31. We will honor the protocols requested (demanded) by the governing authorities out of a desire to demonstrate love to one another publicly. We will practice social distancing and to the extent possible, wear masks or face coverings. But most importantly, we will preach the Word and love the people.
